COURSE INTERACTIVITY
Choose Between 3 Levels of Interactivity for Your Course
How interactive do you want your courseware to be? Do you need your course to be a quick read-through with some quiz questions? Or are you envisioning a more engaging experience, something with simulated exercises, multiple branching narratives, and custom interactions? Take a look at the three levels of interactivity below. The level of interactivity you choose affects the cost of your project — the more complex the project, the more hours it will take to build the course.

How Interactivity Level Affects Development Hours
These three levels of interactivity were created using the results of the Chapman Alliance Study to create an eLearning industry standard model for the number of hours it takes to create one finished hour of eLearning based on the project complexity or interactivity level of the course. Take a look at the chart below to see how interactivity level affects a project’s development hours.
Course Length (Word Count) | LEVEL I Development Hours | LEVEL II Development Hours | LEVEL III Development Hours |
---|
15 minutes (2000 words) | 12.25 | 31.75 | 54.25 |
30 minutes (4000 words) | 24.50 | 63.50 | 108.50 |
1 hour (8000 words) | 49 | 127 | 217 |
